Losing my dad unexpectedly has been one of the most difficult experiences of my life. As I sit here, reflecting on the man he was, it feels impossible to capture in words just how kind, thoughtful, and giving he was to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
My father wasn’t just a man who worked hard—he was someone who lived with deep purpose, always thinking of others, always giving more than he ever took.
One memory stands out to me that perfectly encapsulates who he was. My dad would wear shoes until they literally had holes in them, walking around with worn-out soles long past their time. When we’d suggest he buy new ones, he’d smile and say, “That money could be better spent helping the school.”
The school he helped support, Nachiketa Tapovan in Hyderabad, India, was his pride and joy—a place that gave kids the opportunity to learn and grow, much like he always tried to do for everyone around him. His philosophy was simple: if you had enough to give, then you gave. No hesitation. No second thoughts. He always found a way to give back, even if it meant going without.
Carrying the Torch
I realize just how much of his legacy I carry with me every day. I was raised with the understanding that you work hard, you respect what you have, and most importantly, you always give back. He taught me that success isn’t measured by what you accumulate but by how much you’re willing to share with those who need it more than you.
One of the ways he lived this was through his work at the Nachiketa Tapovan School, where he focused on teaching the basics of financial planning and career counseling to those without resources or connections elsewhere. His dedication to empowering others has deeply influenced my own values and the way I approach both life and business.
In many ways, I see myself as the ambassador of his legacy. My father’s selflessness and generosity are principles I try to live by every day. Whether it’s in how I approach my work, how I treat others, or how I choose to spend my time, I’m always guided by his example. He may not be here anymore, but his values live on through everything I do.
A Path to Giving Back
One of the greatest gifts real estate investments have given me is the freedom to support causes that were close to my father’s heart—and ones that have become close to mine. Real estate has allowed me the financial flexibility to donate not just money, but time and energy to support the charities and organizations that align with the values my dad instilled in me. It’s the same sense of purpose that drove him to give, to make a difference, and to leave the world a little better than he found it.
Whether it’s continuing his commitment to the school he loved so much, supporting local initiatives, or contributing to larger causes, I’m honored to carry on his legacy of giving. My father always believed that true wealth is found in how much you can do for others. And today, thanks to the freedom that real estate has given me, I’m able to live that philosophy, just as he did.
A Legacy of Gratitude
In losing my dad, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of what it means to live a meaningful life. His memory is a constant reminder to be grateful for what I have, to work hard, and to always look for ways to give back. His quiet acts of kindness, his thoughtfulness, and his unwavering dedication to helping others will continue to inspire me for the rest of my life.
I miss him more than words can say, but I also know that his legacy lives on through every action I take. Every time I support a cause, every time I help someone in need, I am honoring him.
To my dad—thank you for teaching me the true meaning of generosity, for showing me that it’s not about what you have, but what you give. I will continue to do my best to live up to the example you set, and I’ll always carry your legacy with me in everything I do.
